UnMasked is an exhibition of mixed media works created solely by local neurodivergent artists that draw from their personal experiences and interactions with the world as a whole. The works in this show touch upon moments from each artist in abstract, depictive and near surrealistic interpretations of occurrences from their pasts and presents.
Organized and curated by Painting senior Ray Askew, the pieces are autobiographical in nature, expanding on moments of vulnerability and acceptance, opting to embrace the difficulties of navigating a world dominated by neurotypicality.
Overall, the show aims to connect to the viewer with these experiences as an opportunity to relate or attempt to understand the realities of a neurodivergent individual. That although life can look different, it can still be lived to its fullest extent.
Artists in the exhibition include Ray Askew, Felix Mathoslah, Nadia Miller, Grace Robin, Kaylee Ryan, Via Spieker, and Emze Bahney.
Unmasked is exhibited at the Fairmount Center for the Arts located at 8400 Fairmount Road in Novelty, Ohio. The show runs through December 5, 2025, with a closing reception on Saturday, December 5 from 2 to 3:30pm. Please call the Fairmount Center for the Arts at 440-338-3171 to schedule a viewing appointment.
Unmasked was organized through CIA's Creativity Works program, which is made possible by the generous support of the Fenn Educational Fund and the G.R. Lincoln Family Foundation. Creativity Works is a self-initiated internship program with the goal of supporting a student's professional development. Participating students create proposals that align with their long-term professional goals.
