CO/RE Program

In Field/Guide, you’ll learn how to navigate CIA and our resources, find your direction and set yourself up for creative success from day one.

In Labs, you’ll experiment with tools, techniques and ideas through hands-on workshops that open up new creative possibilities.

You’ll shape your own learning experience by choosing which workshops you want to take!

Put your creativity into action in CO/LAB by working on projects grounded in real-world contexts!

Learn to CO/LABorate with your peers, faculty, and external partners while building teamwork, communication, and planning skills.

CO/LAB topics might look like: 

• CO/LAB Live @ IML: Create a collaborative project using the Interactive Media Lab.
• CO/LAB Site: Work with community partners to create murals, graphics, and installations.
• CO/LAB System: Investigate sustainability through papermaking, recycling, and systems design.

Throughout your first three years, you’ll take CO/RE 100, 200 and 300 where you’ll dive into different topics and push you to experiment across media!

CO/RE topics might look like: 

• Layers of Looking: Seeing isn’t as simple as it seems. This topic explores how perception, memory, and experience shape the way we understand and create.
• Strange Encounters: What can you create from misfits, leftovers, and unexpected treasures? Explore how play and experimentation can spark new ideas and stories
• Cause & Effect: What happens next? Explore how actions, decisions, and events connect to create stories, experiences, and unexpected outcomes.
• Outlandish Terrain: What kind of world will you create? Explore how imagined environments can be built, experienced, and transformed.
