UnMasked is an exhibition of mixed media works created solely by local neurodivergent artists that draw from their personal experiences and interactions with the world as a whole. The works in this show touch upon moments from each artist in depictive, abstract, and near surrealistic interpretations of occurrences from their pasts and presents.
Curated by Painting senior Ray Askew, the pieces are autobiographical in nature, expanding on moments of vulnerability and acceptance, opting to embrace the difficulties of navigating a world dominated by neurotypicality.
Unmasked will be exhibited at the Fairmount Center for the Arts, located at 8400 Fairmount Road in Novelty, Ohio. There will be a closing reception from 2 to 3:30pm on Saturday, December 6.
Unmasked was organized through CIA's Creativity Works program, which is made possible by the generous support of the Fenn Educational Fund and the G.R. Lincoln Family Foundation. Creativity Works is a self-initiated internship program with the goal of supporting a student's professional development. Participating students create proposals that align with their long-term professional goals.
