Patrick Baran ('83 Industrial Design)
I have been a designer and inventor my entire life but professionally for over 40 years! I have studied and worked with some of the best, including Victor Schreckengost, Greenlee & Hess, Nottingham & Spirk, just to name a few! I found a love for toys and wound up at Marvin Glass & Associates in Chicago & was responsible for the creation of Panosh Place Voltron. It all took off from there. Some of my Clients Included Hasbro, Mattel, Kenner, Parker Brothers, Milton Bradley, Cap Toy, Creativity for Kids, and many others. Working with global manufacturing & marketing firms to design, coordinate and manage the development of multiple new products annually. Recently retired from K&M International where I was the Manager of Advanced Projects and designed everything from plush to plastic toy lines. I traveled internationally extensively and worked with agents, design teams and manufacturers from all over the world.
Currently working for myself again, I still love to design toys, but actively work on a medical product line, as well as my own artwork and sculpture. I share a great studio space locally with my wife, who is also a CIA alum, and is a portrait artist. What I have learned is to surround yourself with other creative minds, promotes creative thinking! I still wake up everyday asking “What if?”
