Summer Reading

CIA's Summer Reading Program is designed to unite the first-year class through a common experience.

We are delighted to announce 11:59 as CIA’s 2026 Summer Reading.

11:49 is a student-led publication produced by CIA students. It includes writing and artwork by students from across majors. Its mission is to amplify individual creative expression and inclusively represent student work and experiences.

We look forward to the conversations and artwork that 11:59 will inspire this fall at CIA.

2026 Mail Art Project

At CIA, we know that art inspires more art. And art helps make community.

Choose a piece of writing or artwork from 11:59. Make a postcard that takes inspiration from it—while representing your own interests. You could also combine inspiration from multiple pieces. How can you respond creatively to the work in 11:59? Be creative. You can use the space however you like—for a comic, a visual representation, or anything else.

We'll mail you postcards and stamps to work with. Return your postcards by mail to CIA. They will become part of an exhibition that features work by you and other incoming students.
