Creativity Works

Creativity Works is a self-initiated internship program for Visual Art and Craft + Design majors which aims to support student’s professional development.

Creativity Works is a great way for students to explore how their creative pursuits can be applied in the real world, by working on real projects with external partners. Students learn to create budgets, interact with external partners in a professional manner, improve time management skills, and other practical aspects of being a professional practicing artist and designer.

Projects in this program have a wide range of potential outcomes. Each student who participates in Creativity Works develops a proposal and budget for their project and apply to the program with additional professional support materials. The student’s proposal may align with their career interests, skill sets, and long-term professional goals.

Each Creativity Works internship will be completed in partnership with an external community and includes a creative contribution for the internship host site.

Participants engage in research, budget development, refinement of communication skills, and some type of public engagement through the project execution. At the conclusion of the program, students complete statements reflecting on their originally defined project goals and to the skills they accumulated over the year-long experience.

Students accepted into the program are allotted funding to support the project implementation.
