CIA Civics Presents: Constitution Day!

September 7, 2024

Happy Constitution Day! On Tuesday, September 17 visit the Student Lounge and explore the connections between the U.S. Constitution and the CIA Student Handbook. It’s important to understand your rights and responsibilities as a student! Swing by the Jessica R. Gund Memorial Library from 11am to noon for a Library Lunchtime Learning Hour.

Join the CIA Civics team throughout the fall semester for additional opportunities for civic engagement:

Voter Registration and Preparation

Join the Library beginning Monday, September 9 to ensure you are registered to vote, get help with all aspects of the voting process, understand what to expect at the polls, and create your voting plan. The library is also providing postage and envelopes for election-related mail through Election Day (Tuesday, November 5).

Our voting information LibGuide answers some of the more common questions about voting and provides links to help you find the information you need to vote. The #TransPeopleVote page provides information about voting ID requirements and hopes to simplify and humanize the voting process so that everyone in the CIA community feels confident about voting.

Throughout the pre-election season, you will have the opportunity to participate in the “I’m Voting Because” display, celebrate Constitution Day 2024 and flaunt your voting swag.

Debate Watch Parties

Student Life + Housing will be hosting debate watch parties in the Uptown and Euclid 117 Residence Halls. Stop by and learn about candidate platforms and further develop your opinion on our country’s pressing issues. The presidential debate watch party will be held on Tuesday, September 10 at 9pm and the vice presidential debate watch party will occur on Tuesday, October 1.

CIA Civics Question Wall Interactive Display

Be on the lookout the week of October 7 for questions we are posing to the CIA community related to civil discourse. Questions will be updated daily and we welcome your perspective!

TRI Conversations

TRI Conversations are back with a focus on engaging in civil discourse. Final date and time details are forthcoming and we hope to see you there!

Election Day Watch Party

Keep tabs on the presidential election results throughout the day. Election updates will be screened throughout November 5.
