CLEVELAND (Ohio) – The Cleveland Institute of Art’s annual Faculty Exhibition opens with a reception Thursday, August 29 in Reinberger Gallery and runs through October 6, 2019.
This year’s presentation includes a concurrent show of works by CIA technical specialists—staffers who maintain the school’s studios and work with faculty and students in areas involving specialized techniques or equipment. That show is in the Ann and Norman Roulet Student + Alumni Gallery. Digital artworks also will be represented on the Toby Lewis Media Mesh, CIA's external exhibition space.
The faculty exhibition is a tradition that spans a century. This year's show includes the recent work of about 50 ranked and adjunct faculty members.
"These works produced by our renowned and dedicated faculty reflect who we are as a community," said gallery director Nikki Woods. "With the end of a challenging and turbulent decade approaching, what do these works say about today and where we may be tomorrow?"
The faculty and TS exhibitions represent art from CIA’s 15 majors: Animation, Ceramics, Drawing, Game Design, Glass, Graphic Design, Illustration, Industrial Design, Interior Architecture, Jewelry + Metals, Life Sciences Illustration, Painting, Photography + Video, Printmaking, and Sculpture + Expanded Media.
