JEDER FÜR SICH UND GOTT GEGEN ALLE
Germany | 1974 | Werner Herzog
The foundling Kaspar Hauser was a German youth who claimed to have grown up in the total isolation of a darkened cell. Hauser's claims, and his subsequent death from a stab wound, sparked much debate and controversy. Herzog’s film closely follows his story based upon letters found with Hauser. Starring the Herzog-discovered Bruno Schleinstein (Stroszek) who brings in an unforgettable performance as the title character. A strange, fairytale-like story that’s simultaneously intriguing, insightful, and affecting. Subtitles. 109 min.
