Toi D. Comer is a nonprofit executive with more than 20 years of experience leading organizational growth, advancing philanthropy, and building high-performing teams for mission-driven organizations. She is recognized for translating vision into strategy, building organizational capacity, and aligning diverse perspectives around a shared purpose to drive sustainable growth and lasting community impact. 

A collaborative, service-oriented leader, Toi believes the strongest organizations are built by investing in people. Guided by a commitment to helping individuals and teams reach their full potential, she fosters cultures grounded in trust, accountability, and shared purpose. Her leadership philosophy is rooted in authentic relationships and the belief that lasting impact is created by helping people see themselves as partners in advancing a mission larger than themselves. Whether leading teams, engaging donors, or cultivating strategic partnerships, she believes meaningful stewardship is about fostering belonging, shared ownership, and enduring commitment. 

Throughout her career, Toi has led transformational initiatives that have strengthened organizations, expanded philanthropic investment, and increased mission impact. Her executive leadership experience includes serving as Vice President of Resource Development at United Way of Greater Cleveland, where she led strategic resource development efforts and a high-performing fundraising team. She also spent more than a decade with City Year Cleveland, progressing from Development Director to Senior Vice President and Executive Director, helping drive 65% revenue growth over five years while expanding organizational capacity and deepening community engagement. 

Beyond her executive roles, Toi is an active service leader who serves on nonprofit boards and advisory committees across Greater Cleveland. She has been recognized by Crain’s Cleveland Business as both a Notable Black Leader and a Woman of Note and by Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio as a Woman of Distinction for her leadership and community impact. 

A graduate of Leadership Cleveland and Cleveland Bridge Builders, Toi holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration from Cleveland State University.
