Originally from Istanbul, Turkey, Bilgesu is a film programmer, educator, and writer with a background in philosophy and a deep love for cinema. She is passionate about supporting the creation, distribution, and exhibition of visionary art and fostering inclusive and connected communities around it. Bilgesu's background encompasses research, curation, creative development, and critical praxis in higher education, film exhibition, grassroots organizations, and media and entertainment.
As a PhD candidate at DePaul University’s Department of Philosophy, Bilgesu taught courses on subjectivity, memory, and political aesthetics. Her areas of interest are film theory, the ethics of representation, and participatory spectatorship. She holds a Master's from Galatasaray University.
