MFA in Graphic Design, Rhode Island School of Design
Adam Swift Lucas (b. 1983) is a graphic designer, publisher, and educator living and working in Cleveland, Ohio. He runs Specific Ideas, a multidisciplinary creative practice that is one part graphic design studio, one part independent publishing house; and is one-half of NEW NEW NEW, an exploratory, project-based art and design initiative he runs with his partner, Rachel Ferber.
Prior to teaching at CIA, Adam was an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Kansas City Art Institute; a Senior Designer at SYPartners, New York; and a co-founder with Andrew LeClair of LeClair Lucas. He’s taught classes and workshops at Maryland Institute College of Art, Rhode Island School of Design, and Pratt Institute, among others. He’s given talks at Hauser & Wirth (Los Angeles); The University of North Carolina at Charlotte with the FATE Conference (w/ Rachel Ferber); Kenyon College as a Mesaros Visiting Artist; and AIGA with the One Designer, One Work series. As Specific Ideas, he’s exhibited at numerous art book fairs. Adam holds an MFA from Rhode Island School of Design and a BA from Kenyon College.
