Que Lindos Recuerdos (What Lovely Memories), an exhibition by Drawing senior Julissa Bruno, will feature work that shares stories of Latino heritage.
Que Lindos Recuerdos will include drawings by Bruno, who is Dominican, as well as artwork created by members of Cleveland's Latino community who participated in workshops led by Bruno over the summer at the Julia De Burgos Cultural Arts Center in Cleveland. The exhibition offers these drawings as an "ofrenda," or "offering," of memories.
An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8pm Friday, September 6 on the Floor 1 Gallery at the Case Western Reserve University Sears think[box]. Que Lindos Recuerdos will remain on view through October 25.
CWRU asks that attendees who are not CWRU students, staff or faculty fill out its Member Registration Form. Those bringing people who are younger than 18 are asked to fill out CWRU's Minor Registration Form.
Parking can be found in the Veale Parking Garage (Lot 53) at 2158 Adelbert Road, near the wind turbine. After parking, walk to the entrance of the Veale Athletic Center. Go into Veale and speak with the front desk attendant for assistance in reaching the Sears think[box].
Que Lindos Recuerdos was created through CIA's Creativity Works program, which is made possible by the generous support of the Fenn Educational Fund and the G.R. Lincoln Family Foundation. Creativity Works is a self-initiated internship program with the goal of supporting a student's professional development. Participating students create proposals that align with their long-term professional goals.
