Visiting Artist Lecture: Avion Pearce
Join visiting artist Avion Pearce for a public lecture exploring photography, installation, video, and interdisciplinary art practices on November 5 at CIA.
Visiting artist Avion Pearce will give a lecture on Thursday, November 5th at 11:00AM in the Peter B. Lewis Theater. Pearce is a multidisciplinary artist working across photography, installation, video, sound, and light. Their practice explores the space between what is seen and what is felt, weaving together multiple mediums to examine shared human and ecological connection. Their photographic practice is grounded in the belief that images shape the ways cultural and historical narratives are remembered, obscured, and reimagined. Pearce is a recipient of the 2024 Aperture Portfolio Prize, NYSCA/NYFA Fellowship, and Parsons School of Design BFA Photography Fellowship. Pearce’s work has been shown at Ryan Lee Gallery, Baxter Street Camera Club, WEBBER Gallery, Aperture Foundation, and Hudson Opera House. Their work has been featured in The Cut, W Magazine, the British Journal of Photography, Vice, and Aperture Magazine. They studied photography at Parsons School of Design and received their MFA from Yale School of Art.
This program is possible by the generous support of the Exhibitions + Galleries Department, Jane B. Nord Center for Teaching + Learning, Liberal Arts Department, CO/RE Department, Photography Department, and IDEA Council.
This lecture is public. All are welcome, and there will be food. Please join us!
