Pillars of Craft is a culmination of works from the 2026 Craft + Design majors at the Cleveland Institute of Art. Using the mediums of glass, ceramics and metal, as well as unique techniques, we create original works of art. Our different styles and perspectives allow our individuality as makers to create a space that’s personal yet cohesive, while using the materials of our craft.
What does it mean to be a pillar of craft? As a collective, we use our knowledge of craft to express our personalities. We work in all three mediums, and while some choose to focus mostly in one area, we have all come together time and time again to build a community that can thrive inside and out of CIA. We hold the future of craft in our hands and we will shape it as we grow as artists.
Pillars of Craft will open from 5 to 8pm Friday, March 7 in CIA's Ann and Norman Roulet Student + Alumni Gallery. It will remain on view through April 4.
