The Cleveland Institute of Art Black Scholars and Artists (BSA) inaugural Black History Month exhibition, In Our Skin, allows the audience to join discussions of colorism, racial disparities, bias, development and their connections to gentrification, beauty standards and the defiance of the social “norm.”

This body of work may provoke questions, such as, “What is the Black body’s place in society and how does it function?” or “What does a Black person mean when they say, ‘It is a SIN to be in OUR skin’?”

In Our Skin uses a variety of media to engage the audience in dialogue through artistic expression and shared experiences. And so the dialogue begins ...

An opening reception for In Our Skin will take place from 5 to 8pm Friday, February 10 in the Alan Lipson Gallery. The exhibition will remain on view through Sunday, March 5.
