Student Life . Life at CIA . Annual Student Events
Coming to a creative school, you expect creative ways to celebrate. Many small events occur throughout our school year, in addition to three annual, school-wide events that bring our students together to celebrate.
CIA students never disappoint when it comes to unique Halloween costumes, which could be why this event is one of the largest each year. Expect both traditional and unexpected Halloween food and events – along with a much-anticipated costume contest.
Student Independent Exhibition
The Student Independent Exhibition (SIE) is one of the major exhibitions held in the CIA's Reinberger Gallery each year. Sponsored by the Student Leadership Council, SIE offers students the opportunity to introduce their work to the public. Show rules, jury selection, publicity, catalogs, exhibition design and installation are organized and coordinated by students.
It remains a mystery how this event got its name. Some think it has to do with the farm it had been held at in the 1960s, while other alumni reminisce about pig roasts. Today, this event includes vegetarian fare in its menu, along with games, inflatable slides, and other great attractions. At this final party of the academic year, the CIA community celebrates the achievements of the past year before heading out for summer break.
