Eddie Mitchell received his BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art in painting and drawing in 1987 with a top traveling scholarship award. Eddie has taught art classes at Lakeland Community College for the past 22 years. At CIA, he has facilitated the evening Life Drawing classes, co-taught the Foundations in Art + Design Pre-College summer program and the Portfolio Preparation class since 2009. He has maintained a full-time studio for the past 28 years. His work is represented in several galleries across the country. Eddie has been in over 150 art shows, created numerous commissioned pieces for public locations, and sold over 1,000 paintings. His experience and passion for creating and teaching art have assisted numerous students to win recognition in various art shows. Eddie has also helped many students to prepare work for their art portfolios for college admission, in hopes to increase their chances of earning merit scholarships based on a high-quality portfolio.
