Our Commencement speakers were celebrated painter Dana Schutz, class of 2000, and Leah Trznadel, class of 2019.
Dana Schutz is an artist who lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. Her work can be seen in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Museum of Contemporary Arts in Los Angeles, among many others.
The Student Commencement speaker was Leah Trznadel, who graduated in 2019 with a BFA in Photography. Trznadel is from Buffalo, New York. During her time at CIA, Leah was a co-chair of the Student Independent Exhibition for two years and received the Dennis Buck ’73 Award for Excellence in Photography and the Joyce Seid ’77 Memorial Award for Excellence in Photography.
