CIA Students are Community Minded

CIA students love to help in the community! Whether it's working with children at Ronald McDonald House, cooking a community meal at Hope Lodge, making holiday greetings for those less fortunate, or serving on our week-long Alternative Spring Break trip, CIA students love to get involved during their time here!

Spring Break

What started as a concerned response to what students were witnessing in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, dozens of CIA students have committed their spring breaks to learning about the issues facing New Orleans and applying their talents to projects like framing, drywalling, designing, building, removing debris and urban gardening.

Before going, students attend a three-week seminar that helps them to more fully understand the context of the issues surrounding Hurricane Katrina.

Working in the Cleveland Community

On a monthly basis, CIA's Community Service Club offers students opportunities to serve the Cleveland community. Some examples of service opportunities include:

• Ronald McDonald House
• University Hospital's Hope Lodge
• Trunk or Treat Halloween activity for neighborhood children
• Free Little Library program on campus
• Holiday Greetings for local retirement homes
• Clothing and toiletry drives for local homeless shelters
• Fundraisers for women's shelters
• Cleveland's urban gardens
