Pre-College . Application Checklist

Application Checklist

Applying to the program is easy via our online portal. You can start your application, save, and return at a later time. Please keep in mind that our Priority application and scholarship deadline is February 15, 2024.

Applications will be reviewed after that time through June 1 as space allows.

Pre-College students should create an account if they do not already have one, select "Start New Application" and then select "2024 Pre-College Application" under the application type.

Students currently in grades 9-12 who are interested in attending Pre-College can submit all materials through the online application. Required materials include:

Scholarship applications should also include a portfolio of 5-8 images of your best work, including observational drawing. Work does not need to relate to the class you’re applying for—we will look at your portfolio as a whole to assess your technical abilities, conceptual problem-solving skills, and use of chosen mediums

  • Applications will be accepted on a space-available basis

Students are encouraged to apply by the priority deadline as space in each class is limited. After the priority deadline, applications will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis as space permits. Applicants who apply during the rolling application period will be notified of acceptance and class placement within two weeks of submitting their application. Students will be placed in a course based on their specified preferences, space availability, and strength of their portfolio.

Students must apply by the priority deadline to be considered for scholarships.

The Pre-College course selection is an important part of the application, where you will select your top three choices. Complete applications will be reviewed, and accepted students will be placed into a course based on their specified preferences, space availability, and self-assessment of previous studio experience and skill level, with consideration from their personal statements and portfolio submission (optional requirements except for scholarship consideration). In some cases, a student may also be placed into the core courses 2D Design: Color + Form or Foundation in Observational Drawing, if their application suggests more focus is needed in a traditional studio environment to be successful.
