Spend your lunch hour hearing from artist, engineer and Cleveland Institute of Art faculty member Steven Gutierrez as he presents "Journey Toward Integration (or Fumbling Toward My Dream)" during Lunch on Fridays from 12:15 to 1:30pm Friday, March 1 in CIA's Peter B. Lewis Theater.

During his talk, Gutierrez will discuss how he learned the tools that eventually allowed him to work in virtual reality (VR). In addition, he will discuss the VR projects he completed during his sabbatical along with his public art and other fine art.

Steven Gutierrez is interested in the intersection of art, technology and the environment. His current research is directed toward finding how technology may be used to help social and environmental issue.

He loves teaching, and feels it is a natural extension of his desire to reach out to others and inspire change. Gutierrez has been teaching college-level courses in Computer Graphics including courses in CIA's Foundation, Animation and Game Design programs. You can also find him at the Maker Faire Cleveland and similar events offering workshops to kids and teenagers interested in art, design and technology.

Gutierrez works in sculpture, interactive media, animation, web, robotics, video and XR (VR & AR). His breadth of knowledge has expanded thanks to the opportunities at the Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design, where he worked with dancers, actors, computer scientists and musicians on interdisciplinary projects.
