VIBE is a solo exhibition of abstract paintings by Painting junior DeAnne Smith that represent the feeling of music and how it relates to colors and forms.

VIBE derives from the influence and feeling that music gives the artist, and is expressed through color relationships, vibrational lines, geometric and organic forms. These large-scale paintings are meant to enwrap the viewer into a feeling of something that is spoken in the universal language of music and to invite the viewer into a space that lives in Smith’s mind when listening to certain songs.

An opening reception will take place from 4 to 6pm Tuesday, June 6 at Case Western Reserve University's Kelvin Smith Library. Visitors are encouraged to bring their headphones and mobile device to immerse themselves in the songs that inspired each piece. The exhibition will remain on view through August.

Work in VIBE was created through CIA’s Creativity Works program, which is made possible by the generous support of the Fenn Educational Fund and the G.R. Lincoln Family Foundation.
