Join us on Friday, July 9 from noon to 9pm for the opening reception of Love, Sex & The Body, a collaborative artist book + exhibition curated by Cleveland Institute of Art rising senior, Liana Gonzalez. Organized as part of the College’s Creativity Works internship program, Liana curated this collection into an artist book that will be available for sale at the accompanying exhibition and website. “Love, Sex & The Body” will be hosted at William Busta Projects, 15517 Waterloo Road, upstairs, Suite 2, the exhibition will run through July 11.

The artists whose work spans from drawings to stained glass, explore themes of love, sex, and the body in their own way. Reflecting on their experiences, these works candidly express the views of the artists. This project, while supporting emerging artists, aims to promote body acceptance and sex positivity as well as self-love. Liana Gonzalez proposed this project because they believed work dealing in these themes often gets overlooked in gallery exhibitions. Viewers are moved along by the third party, rushed or sometimes worried to spend too long at one piece. In book form, Gonzalez wanted to present the work in a way that allows viewers to have their own intimate experience with each piece and the artist.

The project features the following artists:

  • Alison Alsup- Painting major*
  • Amani Williams- Drawing alumni*
  • Ash Sark- Painting/Drawing alumni*
  • Lauren Campbell- Visual Artist/ Art Therapist
  • Liana Gonzalez- Drawing/Sculpture + Expanded Media major*
  • Meg Lubey- Painting major*
  • Pax Enstad- Painting major*
  • Sebastian Schenz- Sculpture + Expanded Media major*
  • Shan Nixon- Stained Glass Artist
