This online exhibition will feature painting, drawing, sculpture and more from Cleveland Institute of Art juniors in response to the theme of love letters with restrictions. Those students are enrolled in CIA’s Role of the Artist as Producer course, which charges visual arts majors with staging an exhibition.
According to the exhibition statement, "Prompts were created for the whole class that challenged each student. The class was encouraged to embrace and transcend the limitations of the prompt. The artworks show that there are many representations of love beyond immediate ideas of romantic love: past love, healing love, longing love, melancholic love, silly love, and cynical love, among others. The ideas of love we explored in our work are sometimes ugly and hard to deal with. These feelings are also real, heartfelt, and important."
