Artists M. Carmen Lane
Spend a lunch hour learning about the latest in art and design during these Friday lectures. Each lecture features a variety of artists and designers from around the world, including CIA faculty and visiting artists. This event is free and open to the public. Pizza and beverages will be provided on a first-come, first served basis.
M Carmen Lane is a two-spirit African-American and Haudenosaunee (Mohawk/Tuscarora) creative whose work ranges from experiential educator to diversity practitioner to organizational systems consultant to experimental artist—all of which integrates ancestry, legacy and spirituality and pursues expansion, experimentation and play.
Lane is the founder and director of both ATNSC: Center for Healing & Creative Leadership—an urban retreat center and social practice experiment in holistic health, leadership development, Indigenous arts and culture—and the Akhsótha Gallery in Cleveland's Buckeye-Shaker neighborhood.
Lane's mixed-media exhibition, AMALA: She Could Not Stay (In Their Black Bodies), is currently up at Praxis Fiber Workshop and will remain remain on view through March 25.
Lane is also scheduled to facilitate "International Womxn's Day Discussion: Who Is Seen?" at 1pm March 7 at moCa Cleveland.
