Artists Maxmillian Peralta and Ethan Bowman
Join us on Friday, February 28 from 7–9pm for the opening reception for Ligne de Vêtements, an exhibition of work by Ethan Bowman and Maxmillian Peralta.
Ligne de Vêtements explores themes of self-presentation through dress and style. Its title, meaning “clothing line,” nods to the French designer brand Vetements. The show presents two views of fashion: one that, in a tongue-in-cheek attitude, celebrates clothing for the confidence it can offer, and the other that critiques the culture of clothing.
Bowman, an illustrator, creates a playful linear story that takes cues from fashion advertisements to play off the idea that clothing embellishes the wearer. His energetic personal style contrasts with the strategies employed by the exhibition’s other artist. Peralta’s work draws inspiration from the exclusionary history of portraiture to examine the relationship between class and clothing.
The exhibition runs through March 13.
