Spend a lunch hour learning about the latest in art and design during these Friday lectures. Each lecture features a variety of artists and designers from around the world, including CIA faculty and visiting artists. This event is free and open to the public. Pizza and beverages will be provided on a first-come, first served basis.

Please join us in welcoming not one, but two visiting artists this afternoon, Emmy Bright and Taryn McMahon.

Emmy Bright works in drawing, writing, print, and performance. She investigates the problem of empathy and the problem of boundaries through the lenses of comedy, art history, psychology, and philosophy. She holds an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art where she is now an Artist in Residence and co-chairs their Print Media Program. Recent exhibitions include I><You><We at VisArts in Richmond, VA, OTHER NATURE at Simone DeSousa Gallery in Detroit and FEELING FEELING at the Distillery Gallery in Boston, MA. She currently lives in Detroit where she is represented by David Klein Gallery.

Taryn McMahon’s work has received numerous awards and residencies including a Denbo Fellowship at Pyramid Atlantic, Vermont Studio Center, Anderson Ranch, Anchor Graphics, Women’s Studio Workshop, and the Lawrence Arts Center. She has had solo exhibitions at The Print Center, Philadelphia, PA and Lexington Art League, Lexington, KY among many others. Her work has been included in numerous group shows at venues such as White Arts, Detroit, MI; Artist Image Resource, Pittsburgh, PA; Trestle Gallery, Brooklyn, NY; and the International Print Center, New York, NY. She received her MFA from the University of Iowa and is an Assistant Professor of Studio Art at Kent State University.
