Afterbirth of Aphrodite contains recent oil paintings by Cleveland based artist Katy Richards. Her work centers on creating a fluid relationship between materiality and representation within painting. Her current work on display uses organic forms reminiscent of oceanic life to create abstract paintings that are about revealing and concealing. Richards is a recent recipient of the Individual Excellence Award from Ohio Art Council and is represented by HEDGE Gallery in Cleveland, Ohio.
