William Powhida will lead a discussion on criticism and artspeak, based on a reading from triplecanopy.com.

A self-described G-E-N-I-O-U-S and habitual critic of the art world, William Powhida lives and works in New York. Powhida received a BFA in painting from Syracuse and an MFA from Hunter College. Currently his work is on view in Seditions at the MAC in Dallas, a solo show of prints and multiples.

He has organized exhibitions including #class and #rank with Jennifer Dalton and Magicality with Eric Trosko. He also collaborated with artist Jade Townsend on the Lemonade Stand and the ABMB Hooverville drawing. His work has been discussed in the New York Times, Artforum, Art in America, The Brooklyn Rail, Art News, Artinfo, Artnet, Hyperallergic, Art Fag City among others. He has completed a publishing residency at the Lower East Side Printshop and was the connecting communities resident at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center in 2011. Currently his work is on view in Seditions at the MAC in Dallas, solo show of prints and multiples.

Currently he is represented in New York by Postmasters Gallery, in Seattle by Platform Gallery, and Los Angeles by Charlie James Gallery. Follow him on Twitter @powhida if you can handle strong language and occasional time-based abuse of the medium.
