Related Programming

Cleveland Institute of Art is located within University Circle, home of world-class cultural institutions including the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Cleveland Orchestra. A vibrant and supportive community for the arts, Cleveland is home to some of the nation’s top craftspersons and galleries. Evening and weekend programming will be available to explore studios and important Cleveland collections. 

ThinkCraft coincides with the FRONT International: Cleveland Triennial for Contemporary Art, hosted at locations throughout Northeast Ohio.

Cleveland Museum of Art craft collection tour

Saturday, 10am, north lobby of Museum

Cleveland Institute of Art lecturer Mark Bassett, will lead a tour of selections from the Museum's craft collection, and other important pieces in the Museum collection. 

As a collector, dealer and scholar specializing in American ceramics, Bassett is a frequent speaker on the topic. He and his partner George Cooper were lenders to the 2017 "Jazz Age" exhibition at the Cleveland Museum of Art.

Special Saturday gallery hours

The Artists Archives of the Western Reserve and The Sculpture Center will open early Saturday, at 10am, for ThinkCraft guests to see their craft exhibitions, if you missed their opening receptions Friday evening. See Friday, September 21 for details.
