Laura Siegel Larson introduces

SUPERMAN II (1981)

Canada, United Kingdom, United States | 1980 | Richard Lester

SUPERMAN II film still

Laura Siegel Larson, daughter of Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel, will introduce the first sequel to the 1978 Superman starring Christopher Reeve. Despite a troubled and tortuous production history that saw the firing of the original director (Richard Donner) and the hiring of Richard Lester (A Hard Day’s Night) to replace him, this follow-up film is top-notch big-screen entertainment, and maybe even better than the original! Adding laughs to the thrills and romance, this installment finds Reeve’s Man of Steel battling three villains from his home planet of Krypton who have the same awesome powers he does. Gene Hackman, Margot Kidder, and Terence Stamp co-star. “More enjoyable than the original.” –Gene Siskel. 4K ‘scope DCP. 127 min.

Special admission $12; members, CIA/CSU I.D. holders, age 25 & under $9; no passes.

This event is presented as part of “Superman’s Cleveland,” a two-month, city-wide celebration of the Man of Steel, who was “born” in Cleveland 85 years ago. For more info, visit www.supermanscleveland.com. Special thanks to Valentino Zullo.
