Cinematheque . Film Schedule . BLOOD AND BLACK LACE
Giallo & Gelato!
6 DONNE PER L’ASSASSINO
France, Italy, West Germany
| 1964 | Mario Bava
The first 35 moviegoers who buy a ticket (in person on 8/19) to this classic giallo (Italian mystery/horror thriller) will receive a cup of gelato (Italian “ice cream”) to enjoy before the movie. But those who arrive too late will still find a decadent, delectable treat in the form of Mario (Black Sunday) Bava’s seminal film. Blood and Black Lace is a stylish and sexy murder mystery in which an unknown sicko murders beautiful fashion models. One of the earliest gialli, it remains among the greatest. “Established all the components of the nascent giallo sub-genre: masked killer in black gloves, convoluted plot, sensational colors, eroticized violence, a camera that identifies with the killer and a dissolute milieu where just about everyone is a suspect.” –Rough Guide to Film. Original Italian version! Adults only! Subtitles. DCP. 88 min.
