VERTIGO

United States | 1958 | Alfred Hitchcock

VERTIGO film still

Taken down a notch in the most recent (2022), decennial Sight and Sound magazine “greatest films” poll (it is now merely the second-best movie ever made), Hitchcock’s moody, haunting masterpiece stars James Stewart as a retired San Francisco police detective who develops a romantic obsession for a beautiful and mysterious married woman (Kim Novak) he has been hired to shadow. Bernard Herrmann composed the unforgettable score. DCP. 128 min.

Special admission $12; members, CIA & CSU I.D. holders, and those age 25 & under $9. No passes.

Masks are currently optional for moviegoers, but still encouraged. Learn more under the “Face Coverings” section at cia.edu/covid.

As a reminder, filmgoers can park for free in Lot 73 and in the Institute's annex lot, and should enter CIA via nearby Entrance C. Click here for a map.

The Cleveland Institute of Art is offering a new Continuing Education class "Directors in Focus: From Mystery to Murder -- The Films of Alfred Hitchcock" June 8-July 27. Find out more here.
