THE TEN COMMANDMENTS (1923)

United States | 1923 | Cecil B. DeMille

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS (1923)

Cecil B. DeMille’s little-known silent version of The Ten Commandments was the highest grossing film of 1923. Surprisingly, only half of this “Biblical epic” is a dramatization of the Exodus story (though it’s as spectacular as the 1956 remake). The other half is a modern-day tale of two brothers—one a saint who follows the commandments, the other a sinner who does not. “Good entertainment in the best DeMille style.” –Leonard Maltin’s Classic Movie Guide. Recorded music track. Blu-ray. 136 min.

General admission $11; members, CIA & CSU I.D.holders, and those age 25 & under $8.

Masks are currently optional for moviegoers, but still encouraged. Learn more under the “Face Coverings” section at cia.edu/covid.

As a reminder, filmgoers can park for free in Lot 73 and in the Institute's annex lot, and should enter CIA via nearby Entrance C. Click here for a map.
