United States | 2022 | Laura Poitras
Artist and activist Nan Goldin is the focus of the new documentary by Oscar-winning director of Citizenfour. It’s one of the most acclaimed films of 2022. The movie looks not only at Goldin’s stellar photographic career documenting LGBT art/drug subcultures but also at her tireless efforts to hold Purdue Pharma, owned by the arts-supporting Sackler family, accountable for much of the opioid epidemic. “A towering and devastating work of shocking intelligence and still greater emotional power…Overwhelming.” –IndieWire. DCP. 113 min.
