A mousy, reclusive, middle-aged man (Michel Blanc) who spies on his beautiful neighbor (Sandrine Bonnaire) across the courtyard becomes a prime suspect in the murder of a young girl. This subtle, riveting tale of l’amour fou is based on a Georges Simenon novel that was previously filmed as Julien Duvivier’s Panique (1946).
