The Adventures of Antoine Doinel, Part 1. New 4K Restoration!

THE 400 BLOWS

LES QUATRE CENTS COUPS
France | 1959 | François Truffaut

 THE 400 BLOWS film still

A French New Wave landmark! Truffaut’s semi-autobiographical feature debut remains one of his greatest works—a wrenching portrait of a young French boy, Antoine Doinel, who turns to petty crime when his mother and stepfather neglect him. Jean-Pierre Léaud, Truffaut’s alter ego, plays Doinel for the first time here. It is a character he and Truffaut would return to in four subsequent films, all showing in October. Cleveland revival premiere. Subtitles. DCP. 99 min.

General admission $11; members, CIA & CSU I.D.holders, and those age 25 & under $8.

Face masks, though always recommended, must be worn by filmgoers only when the CDC’s community risk level for Covid in Cuyahoga County is HIGH. Visit cia.edu/covid for the current community risk level and see the “Face Coverings” section for our detailed mask requirements.

As a reminder, filmgoers can park for free in Lot 73 and in the Institute's annex lot, and should enter CIA via nearby Entrance C. Click here for a map.
