Cinematheque . Film Schedule . BATTLESHIP POTEMKIN
Demoted Masterpieces. Film Classics in 35mm!
USSR | 1925 | Sergei Eisenstein
Voted one of the 10 best films of all time in six of the seven previous decennial Sight & Sound magazine polls (1952-2002), this landmark Soviet silent is an electrifying, groundbreaking re-creation of a 1905 mutiny on a Czarist Russian battleship. The work contains perhaps the most famous single sequence in cinema history—the “Odessa Steps” massacre. A recording of Edmund Meisel’s original music score provides the soundtrack. Subtitles. 35mm. 75 min.
Special admission $13; members, CIA & CSU I.D. holders, and those age 25 & under $10. No passes.
Face masks, though always recommended, must be worn by filmgoers only when the CDC’s community risk level for Covid in Cuyahoga County is HIGH. Visit cia.edu/covid for the current community risk level and see the “Face Coverings” section for our detailed mask requirements.
As a reminder, filmgoers can park for free in Lot 73 and in the Institute's annex lot, and should enter CIA via nearby Entrance C. Click here for a map.
