In this affectionate tribute to the late 19th-century “gaslight” era, W.C. Fields plays The Great McGonigle, head of a traveling theatrical troupe who must stay one step ahead of his creditors and the law. The film showcases Fields’ lesser-known prowess as a juggler; he was one of the best in vaudeville. With Baby LeRoy. DCP. 71 min.
