COSTA BRAVA, LEBANON film still

Lebanon’s official entry for this year’s Oscar for Best Int’l Feature Film is a tragicomic tale of a Lebanese family that flees dirty, noisy, corrupt Beirut for pastoral life in the mountain country. But their rural idyll is shattered by the establishment of a new landfill on the adjoining property. Prominent Lebanese director and actor Nadine Labaki (Oscar-nominated Capernaum) stars in this heartfelt movie that blends both the real and the fantastical. “A terrific feature debut…Works both as a compelling domestic drama and an elegant political allegory.” –Screen Daily. Subtitles. 107 min.
