Jane Campion’s tense fable focuses on two brothers—macho bully Phil (Benedict Cumberbatch) and courtly gentleman George (Jesse Plemons)—who own a prosperous ranch in 1925 Montana. A serious rift develops between the two when George brings home his new bride (Kirsten Dunst), a widow with an effeminate teenage son (Kodi Smit-McPhee). Jonny Greenwood composed the terrific score.
