Javier Bardem, who became a leading man and movie star after his performance in Jamón, Jamón (see 6/11 at 5:00), re-teamed with Bigas Luna on the director’s next film, the second part of his erotic, satirical “Iberian Trilogy.” Bardem plays a cocky, libidinous hustler who aspires to build the tallest skyscraper in Benidorm and will stop at nothing to get it up. Maribel Verdú (Y tu mamá también), Maria de Medeiros, and Benicio del Toro co-star. Adults only! Subtitles. 35mm print from Europe. 95 min. Bigas Luna specialist Santiago Fouz Hernández, Professor in Iberian Studies and Film Studies at Durham University in the UK, will introduce the film via a pre-recorded custom video.

Special admission $13; members, CIA & CSU I.D. holders, and those age 25 & under $10. No passes or twofers.

This film is co-presented by The Bigas Luna Tribute, a series of global events organized by Bigas Luna’s daughter, Betty Bigas, and Bigas Luna specialist Santiago Fouz Hernández, Professor in Iberian Studies and Film Studies at Durham University, UK.
