Film Classics in 35mm! Night and the City: Film Noir
United States | 1948 | Anthony Mann
Before directing the 1950s westerns for which he would become famous, Anthony Mann made a series off stylish, well-regarded, low-budget film noir thrillers during the 1940s. Raw Deal is probably the best of them. Dennis O’Keefe, Claire Trevor, Marsha Hunt, and Raymond Burr star in this tight, violent tale of an escaped con who becomes embroiled in a love triangle on his way to avenging the mobster who sent him to prison. The stunning b&w imagery is by the great noir cinematographer John Alton. 35mm archive print! 82 min.
Special admission $13; members, CIA & CSU I.D. holders, and those age 25 & under $10. No passes or twofers. Film preserved by the Library of Congress.
