United Kingdom | 1962 | David Lean

LAWRENCE OF ARABIA film still

Soon-to-retire Cleveland Institute of Art President + CEO (and lifelong movie maven) Grafton Nunes has selected eight of his all-time favorite films to be shown in an eight-month "carte blanche" series running through April 2022. He will introduce each one. Nunes’ first selection has been named the #1 film you must see on the big screen. David Lean’s celebrated, influential historical epic stars Peter O’Toole as T.E. Lawrence, a British adventurer who united Arab tribes against the Turks during WWI. Stunning desert landscapes and an all-star supporting cast (Alec Guinness, Anthony Quinn, Omar Sharif, et al.) helped earn the film seven Oscars, including Best Picture, Director, and Cinematography. 35mm. 227 min.

Special admission $12; members, CIA & CSU I.D. holders, and those age 25 & under $9. No passes or twofers.

How we're keeping you safe from the Delta variant. The Cleveland Institute of Art is doing its utmost to keep you safe from transmitting or catching Covid. Masks are required for all filmgoers. Your temperature will be taken upon entering the building, and a wristband (handed out by security) must be worn while in the building. Social distancing is being maintained in the lobby, restrooms, and theater. In the auditorium, certain seats are blocked off, and capacity is reduced. Top-of-the-line MERV 15 air filters purify the air. Sanitation stations dot the premises.

We continue to accept both cash and credit cards at the box office. Temporarily there is no access to CIA's upper floors (including vending machines). Free parking is available in Lot 73 and the annex lot. (Both are off E. 117th St. south of Euclid Ave.) Entrance to the building is through Entrance C, off Lot 73, and Entrance A, on E. 116th St.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation!
