Online exclusive! Available 9/11 - 10/1.
Belgium, France | 2019 | Justine Triet
Adèle Exarchopoulos (Blue Is the Warmest Color) and Sandra Hüller (Toni Erdmann) star in this blackly comic, supremely entertaining character study about a psychotherapist, Sibyl (Virginie Efira), who decides to quit her practice and take up fiction writing, mining her patients’ problems for lurid details. But overall she flounders for inspiration until she meets a sultry but insecure young actress who’s shooting a movie and having an affair with her male co-star. The action of this film within the film begins to conflate with Sibyl’s own dreams and ambitions, as well as with her earlier life. “It’s about as French as you can get…Triet handles the material gracefully and altogether skillfully.” –Hollywood Reporter. Cleveland premiere. Subtitles. 100 min.
