A FACE IN THE CROWD

United States | 1957 | Elia Kazan

Andy Griffith (in his film debut) plays “Lonesome” Rhodes, an Arkansas drifter and singer who becomes an overnight radio/TV sensation. His quaint “country boy” charm soon gives way to amorality, ruthlessness, and an unquenchable thirst for power. This prescient fable about the dangers of mass media in American society marked a second collaboration for the director (Elia Kazan) and writer (Budd Schulberg) of On the Waterfront. With Patricia Neal, Walter Matthau, Anthony Franciosa, and Lee Remick. 125 min.

Special admission $11; members, CIA & CSU I.D. holders, and those age 25 & under $8; no passes, twofers, or radio winners.
