Ryan Gosling and an unforgettably malevolent Kristin Scott Thomas star in the stylish and violent new film from the Danish maker of Drive, Bronson, and the Pusher trilogy. It's a languid, cryptic fable of murder and revenge set in a seedy nighttime Bangkok of boxing clubs, brothels, and bars. Gosling's ex-pat drug smuggler locks horns with a stern, sword-wielding Thai policeman known as the "Angel of Vengeance” in a lurid Lynchian landscape that seems part dream, part purgatory.
