Safety + Security resources

The following services are available to current CIA students, faculty, and staff.

Emergency blue light phones

You will notice blue light emergency telephones at strategic points on the Cleveland Institute of Art campus and in the surrounding neighborhood. The emergency blue light phones are for emergency use only, and connect to a police dispatcher. Any non-emergency incidents occurring on campus should be reported to CIA Security at 216.421.7330.

Sexual assault awareness

In compliance with federal regulations and to help members of the community stay safe, CIA presents programming on these topics to students, faculty, and staff. All are required to participate. More information on sexual assault and resources for support are available here.

Safety programming

CIA presents programming for personal safety and emergency planning throughout the year with an emphasis during Safety Month in the fall. Some programs are offered online and others in person.

A.L.I.C.E. training

Periodically, officers from the CWRU Police Department visit campus to present A.L.I.C.E. (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate), a training program for active shooter situations.
