FAQ: Major Application

A detailed email concerning the Major Application process was sent to all Foundation students from Academic Affairs on March 11.

Is major application still happening?

March 13, 2020: Yes, major application is moving forward along the same timeline as previously outlined. Please visit myCIA for the most up-to-date information.

Am I still expected to install my wall display of Foundation work?

March 13, 2020: No, you will not install a display of your work. You are encouraged to include as much work as you can from your Foundation classes in your digital portfolio, which will be included in your major-specific PDF submission.

What if I am away from campus and do not have access to my Foundation work?

March 16, 2020: We ask that you explain this in your major-specific letter of interest. Faculty are sensitive to this issue.

What is happening with the departmental interviews I signed up for?

March 16, 2020: As a result of feedback we received from you and from the faculty, we have determined that the interview portion of major application is canceled. Interivews will not be required this year.

March 13, 2020: Interviews will occur as video meetings via Google. Interviews will happen at the same dates and times were originally scheduled. You will receive an email invitation for each departmental interview. The email will have a link that says “join hangouts meet.” Click this link and join the meeting just before your scheduled interview time. The faculty member will join the meeting at the scheduled time and your interview will begin.

What if I still have questions?

March 13, 2020: The staff and faculty are doing everything we can to seamlessly transition the major application process to a digital platform. Please contact Erin Duhigg at if you have any questions.
